Historical Square

Historical Square is located at the place where in 1580-s the first wooden Russian fortress was built. Nigh at hand there is Tura embankment, pedestrian Lovers’ Bridge and Gorodskaya Duma Regional Museum. Respubliki and Lenina - the central street of Tyumen – take their beginning right here. The place where the first fortress stood did not survive and was washed out by waters of Tura River. Nowadays there is a memorial dedicated to Yermak and his brother-in-arms and memorial to the soldiers who died in Great Patriotic War and the Eternal Flame memorial. From one side there is a panoramic view on a Tyumen Stadium and on Tyumen State Architectural University and Krestovozdvizhenskaya Church on the other. Historical Square is a significant place that reflects a centuries-old history of Tyumen and Russia.
