Church named after Saint Simeon the God Receiver is located on the crossroad of two central streets of Tyumen: Ordzhonikidze and Respubliki streets. In the very beginning in 1871 an orphanage was opened here on money of merchant and honorable citizen of Tyumen Semyon Trusov and also a church in 1885. In Soviet times the building of the church was used by many organizations such as Soviet party school, pedagogical college № 1, one of the departments of Tyumen medical institute. Only in 1999 St. Simeon Church was returned to Tobolsk and Tyumen diocese. Nowadays there are Tyumen deanery of Tobolsk Metropolitan, Pilgrimage department of diocese, library of the church and department of children social development. Every week the seminars, classes and lectures of divinity are held here. This is a functioning church where all the sacraments are provided.
