Lovers’ Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge over Tura River in the Central district of Tyumen. The bridge was built in 1987 – five years after a crash of an old wooden bridge at that place. Previous name of the bridge was Peshehodniy (Pedestrian). But in 2003 local DJs Maria Kondratovich and Timur Shkval arranged an unusual contest “The most unusual kiss”. After that, the city mayor Stepan Kirichuk was offered to rename the bridge into the Lovers’ Bridge. On 26th of July newly married couples with V. Bogodelov, the director of the Red Army Radio Station, and the mayor of the city officially cut a red stripe.
