Revolution Figthers Square

Revolution Fighters Square is located in historical part of the city surrounded by educational centers such as Tyumen State University and North Ural State Agrarian University. There is Farewell Square in front of it. The first silhouettes of the square appeared in the end of 18th century, in 1879 Alexander secondary School was built, then d 1910 the house of city architect was erected nearby. For many years, it was an empty square having no any memorial complex. In 1957 by the 40th anniversary of the Great October Revolution according to the sketches of sculptor Y. A. Gerasimov a great monument was cast - peasant and worker under the red flag. The memorial was set on the common grave where rest in peace Red Army men who died in 1918-1921 in a fights for the Soviet government. Its today’s name the square acquired in 1967. Now this square is a very comfortable place with a park for walks with children and spacious playground.
