Komsomolsky Park

The Komsomolsky Park is located in Tyumen in the triangle formed by Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, Moskovsky Trakt and Traktovaya streets. The history of the park started in 1961 when Semyon Patsko, who was the first secretary of the CPSU City Committee, suggested to plant trees in the field between Moskovsky and Chervishevsky Trakt streets. Previously there was field where people cultivated potato. After the field was marked out the members of the Komsomol, the students of two of Tyumen universities and young workers of the railway station and factories started planting linden and other trees. The newly-built park was called simply The Park next to the School №30 which is located nearby. New Year performances, the concerts of the people's choir under the direction of G. Tsybulskogo. Actors of theatre of the cultural centre Zheleznodorozhnik gave concerts and stage performances there. In 1986, during the preparation for the 400th anniversary of Tyumen this park obtained its official name the Komsomolsky Park.
