Farewell Square

In the park, there is a monument to the school students of Tyumen who had not returned from the Second World War (the monument is called Farewell). It was the idea of school graduates of Tyumen of 1941-1945 and their teacher P. Khaynovsky to set up the monument. It represents a sculpture group of a young man wearing a military overcoat and holding a rifle and a girl seeing him off for the war. The girl is barefooted which symbolizes the fact that the war broke out suddenly so there was no time for preparation. Next to the pedestal, there is a memorable legend, and on the pylons, there are the written surnames of the fallen school graduates of Tyumen who fought and died for the freedom of their country. The creators of the monument are the Tyumen sculptor N. Raspopov and the architect B. Zhuchenko. The grand opening of the monument was in June 1991. Traditionally, every year on 22 June the survived school graduates of 1940s come to lay flowers to the monument and commemorate the people who did not return from the war.
