Trip to Tobolsk

Since 1708, Tobolsk oficially was the capital of the Siberian Government of the Russian Empire during almost 200 years. Tobolsk is also called a pearl on the necklace of ancient Siberian cities. There is the unique Siberian stone Kremlin the main attraction of the city. There is a historical and architectural museum-preserve that has more than 30 objects of Federal value. Tobolsk is also called the cultural capital of Siberia. There were trade routes (mostly along the rivers) from the Middle Asia, namely the Great Silk Route and the Great Tea Route. Tobolsk is the hometown of the prominent Russian scientist D. Mendeleev. It has the only one in the country bone carving factory where you can buy authentic souvenirs during the trip. In the course of the excursion you will visit the Whitestone Kremlin and the Abalak Tourist Complex which represents a Russian wooden burg. You will also visit the Znamensky Monastery, the first Orthodox monastery in Siberia, and the Sofiysko-Uspensky Cathedral, one of the most ancient Siberian temples built in 1683-1686.
