The building of Tyumen State Architectural University is located at the top of Zatyumensky Cape between Holy Trinity Monastery and Krestovozdvizhenskaya Church. The building was finished in 1914 provided by well-known trading house of merchant Kolokolnikov. At the exhibition in Saint Petersburg, the project of the building was admitted the best out of new buildings for education. The building itself represents a beautiful example of public place in a style of neoclassicism mixed with eclectic frivolity. There is a huge entrance hall, wide stairs and light corridors with alcoves. It is considered the first building in Tyumen that had a central steam heating. In the beginning of 20th century, there was a Commercial college, during Great Patriotic War there was a hospital and then boarding school. In 50s Pedagogical institute was moved here and only in 1971 Tyumen Engineer Building Institute was established here. Later it reached a status of university. The building of Architectural University strikes with its beauty and greatness attracting all the attention of guests and citizens of Tyumen. At nighttime, its front side is illuminated with various colors.
